Pro Kabaddi League Season 11: Day 2 Auction Delivers Drama and Big Spenders

The second day of the Pro Kabaddi League Season 11 player auction was a whirlwind of excitement and unexpected twists.

Building upon the foundation laid by the first day’s marquee signings, franchises shifted their focus to bolstering their squads with promising young talent and strategic veteran additions.

The auction was punctuated by a series of record-breaking bids that sent shockwaves through the league. V Ajith Kumar and Jai Bhagwan, two Category C players, emerged as the unexpected stars of the day. Puneri Paltan made a bold statement by securing Ajith Kumar’s services for a staggering INR 66 lakh, while Bengaluru Bulls matched their ambition by acquiring Jai Bhagwan for INR 63 lakh. These unprecedented sums underscored the escalating value of the raider in the modern game.

While these two acquisitions dominated headlines, other teams made strategic moves to strengthen their rosters. Gujarat Giants retained their star all-rounder Mohammad Esmaeil Nabibakhsh through the Final Bid Match and further bolstered their defence by acquiring Neeraj Kumar. Tamil Thalaivas, after a high-profile purchase on Day 1, exercised their FBM to retain Iranian defender Amirhossein Bastami and added all-rounder Moein Safaghi to their ranks.

UP Yoddhas focused on defensive reinforcements, bringing Mohammadreza Kaboudrahangi and Mahender Singh. Patna Pirates, meanwhile, cast a wider net, acquiring South Korean raider Jang Kun Lee, Iranian defender Hamid Nader, and defender Prashant Kumar Rathi, while retaining Thiyagarajan Yuvaraj through the FBM. Dabang Delhi K.C. added depth to their squad with the signings of Bangladeshi raider Md. Mijanur Rahman, defender Mohammad Baba Ali, and right cover defender Gaurav Chhillar.

Bengal Warriorz made a significant splash by securing Arjun Rathi as the most expensive Category D player, investing a substantial INR 41 lakh in the young talent. The Warriorz also added Vaibhav Garje to their roster. Other notable Category D acquisitions included Mohd. Amaan by Puneri Paltan and Stuwart Singh by U Mumba.

A stark contrast to the high-profile signings was the surprising availability of seasoned veterans such as Deepak Niwas Hooda, Sandeep Narwal, Ravinder Pahal, and Rahul Chaudhari. Their absence from the auction underscored the intense competition for talent and the evolving dynamics of the league.

As the auction curtain falls, teams will embark on rigorous training camps to prepare for the upcoming season. With a blend of established stars and promising newcomers, the stage is set for an exhilarating and unpredictable Pro Kabaddi League Season 11 campaign.

The auction has undoubtedly injected a fresh wave of excitement into the league, and fans eagerly anticipate the start of the season to witness their favourite teams in action.
