In a thrilling match that went down to the wire, PBG Bengaluru Smashers emerged victorious over Ahmedabad SG Pipers by a score of 9-6 in the Ultimate Table Tennis (UTT) league on Saturday.

The match played at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium, was a showcase of exceptional skill and determination from both teams. The contest was evenly matched throughout, with momentum swinging back and forth.

Ahmedabad SG Pipers started the match on a high note, with Lilian Bardet defeating Anthony Amalraj in the opening clash. Bernadette Szocs followed up with a crucial win over Manika Batra in the women’s singles. The Pipers continued their momentum in the mixed doubles, with Szocs and Manush Shah securing a victory over PBG Bengaluru Smashers pair of Batra and Alvaro Robles.

Robles was instrumental in PBG Bengaluru Smashers’ comeback, winning all three games in the men’s singles against Shah. With the match tied, it came down to the final women’s singles encounter between Lily Zhang and Krittwika Sinha Roy. Zhang proved to be the hero of the hour, securing a 3-0 victory to clinch the match for PBG Bengaluru Smashers.

Alvaro Robles and Manika Batra earned the titles of Foreign Player of the Tie and Indian Player of the Tie, respectively.

With this win, Bengaluru tops the league table with 41 points, while Ahmedabad dropped to third with 30 points. The match was a testament to the high level of competition and skill on display in the UTT league.
