Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar, India’s golfing sensations, are facing a daunting task to make the cut at the prestigious AIG Women’s Open. Despite their previous triumphs at St. Andrews Links, the duo struggled to contend with the challenging conditions in the opening round, carding scores of 76 and 77, respectively.
The prevailing strong winds have made scoring difficult for all participants. Aditi’s round was marred by bogeys on the 1st, 2nd, and 12th holes, along with a double bogey on the 13th. A lone birdie on the 9th hole provided a fleeting moment of relief.
Diksha, who teed off from the 10th, faced early struggles with bogeys on the 10th, 11th, 13th, 16th, and 17th holes. While her performance improved on the front nine, where she recorded a bogey on the 3rd and a birdie on the 9th, it was not enough to salvage a strong opening round.
Ashok and Dagar will need to significantly lower their scores in the second round of the AIG Women’s Open to have a chance of advancing to the weekend. The second round tees off today with Aditi starting at 11:40 AM IST and Diksha following at 12:03 PM IST.
